DM (David) Stith
Born in Buffalo, NY, singer/songwriter David Stith spent his formative years surrounded by music. The son and grandson of college wind ensemble directors, with a pianist mother and a pair of opera-singing sisters, Stith began his own music career only after a long affair with writing, illustration, and graphic design. At age 25, after meeting and working with Shara Worden of eclectic dream pop outfit My Brightest Diamond and relocating to New York City, he began writing and recording his own songs. The first fruits of his labor come in ‘Ichabod and Apple’ and next in the 2009 full album ‘Heavy Ghost’ which garnered critical attention and enthusiasm. In the years since, he has toured with Sufjan Stevens and released the 2013 album ‘Scorpio Little Devil’ as one half of the band The Revival Hour. In addition to a new solo album next year, and collaborations with Sarah Kirkland Snider, Owen Pallett and members of The Shins, David’s work as a visual artist is also finding exposure on album covers for Roomful of Teeth, yMusic, Now Ensemble, and many others on New Amsterdam Records.
