Onix Ensamble

Mexican flutist Alejandro Escuer, who founded Onix in 1996, has been the artistic director and producer of many concerts internationally. He has received numerous awards, including: a Rockefeller Foundation Award and Líderes de México Honorary Award as well as others. He is a faculty member at the Escuela Nacional de Musica at UNAM and currently is a visiting Fulbright professor at Indiana University. 
Pianist Edith Ruíz Zepeda has played in Mexico’s main concert halls, as well as internationally. She has performed in music festivals including Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival, Clarinetfest, and Festival Internacional Eduardo Mata, among others. She is a sought-after pianist in Mexico and performs regularly nationwide.
Clarinetist Fernando Domínguez has performed as soloist with several major Mexican orchestras, including Sinfónica Vida y Movimiento, La Escuela Nacional Preparatoria, Sinfónica de IPN, La Cámara de Bellas Artes and Sinfónica Carlos Chávez. He also performs with Ensamble 3 which won first place in the VII Chamber Music Contest of the National University.
Violinist Abel Romero is a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional (Mexico) and is a faculty member of the Centro Escolar Cedro. He has performed for such world-renowned artists as Pinchas Zuckerman, John Dalley, Zoria Zijmurzaieva and Jorge Risi.
Cellist Edgardo Espinosa was born and raised in Mexico City, where he studied at the National School of Music. He devotes himself both to teaching and to performing chamber music, with special emphasis on contemporary music. Besides his participation in ONIX Ensemble, he also performs with Cello Alterno.
